Sailing Yacht Highlander

The yacht Highlander has been located for some 8 years at the superb marina of Port el Kantaoui, which is some 6 miles north of the historical Arabian city of Sousse, with its madina and the historical colosseum of El Jem nearby.

This wonderful marina was established some 25 years ago and certainly is the most sophisticated marina in North Africa, and as can be seen from examining the marina website at www.portelkantaoui.com.tn it more than rivals any mediterranean location, with wonderful shelter and guaranteed all year round sunshine.

Port el Kantaoui is the perfect spot to locate a yacht for easy access to all the mediterranean favourites, with Sicily a days sail, as is Malta and onwards thereafter to the greek islands or the Adriatic.

The great advantage of Port el Kantaoui is that the annual charges for the reserved pontoon berth for Highlander, including permanent connection to water and the electric shore supply, is only £2500, and this provides gated security 24 hrs per day, and the marina, as can be seen from the above website, has a cafe and restaurant culture surrounding the yachts, and yet the gated pontoons provide total privacy from the public.

There are some 200 yachts now based within the marina and one quickly gets to know fellow yacht owners (from all nationalities) and a very friendly atmosphere is enjoyed by all.

The marina staff are particularly helpful and there is a yacht club to which owners are automatically members.

Port el Kantaoui is only 20 min by taxi (£10) from the International Airport of Monastir and the new International Airport of Enfida is some 30 min north of Kantaoui. Both these airports are serviced daily from the UK and European centres, and it is easy to purchase cheap ‘flight only’ tickets to join the yacht all year round.
